Kitchen redo

When Dr. Pepper and I moved into this house one of the things that I was the most excited for was the fact that we would now be able to sit at the table and have dinner. This idea came to a screeching halt once I sat in these chairs for more than 5 minutes. They are horrible uncomfortable! How do you fir this you ask? Well, keep reading and you will see just what I did to fix mine...

First, I went and found a bench that could replace the chair on one side but seat 2 people.

Here are the supplies you will need:
* Sanding Pad - Medium or heavy Duty depending on how much paint you need to remove from your furniture.
* Spray Paint- the color that you want to show through from underneath
* White flat paint
* water
*Paint brush
* light sander
*rag for wiping down after sanding
*wax candle
*clear coat sealer

Sand them all down really good until they all have a white powder on them.

You will see the clear coat fade off if you are working with the butcher block like I did here.

Once you have a color for the undertone go ahead and cover the piece.

Get ready for the strange part!
Rub, rub, rub and rub more! The more the rub the less the pain will stick. Anywhere that you rub the wax really hard, the paint will not stick. Did you know that?

I wanted this one to be more of the "worn out" look in the seat area. Can you tell?
Mix your paint and water. If you want more of a watercolor look then add more water. If you want more of the painted look add a little at a time and then go back and sand down little by little.

Like this.......

I think it turned out fantastic! I hope yours does too!!!

Super lazy Sunday!

We made it home safe and sound yesterday after what seemed like the LONGEST ride ever! We got stuck in 4 separate traffic jams and a rain storm.  I have spent the entire day doing nothing and loving it. Here are a few more from the trip.....

 My computer is acting a little nutty this afternoon so I will come back in a bit.
